About the Summer Youth Drama Program
MMuDS, The Victorian Drama League & TYU, will present a Youth Drama Program for Mansfield District youth over the school holidays from 8 - 16th January 2022.
Open to youth aged 13 - 20 years who live in the Mansfield Shire. Maximum of 25 young people to be in the performance. The Project will run from Saturday 8th January – Saturday 15th January inclusive.
Working with an established script by accomplished Australian playright, participants will be taken on an exciting journey by experienced leaders in stage craft, culminating in 3 public performances at the end of the week long program.
Participant responsibility: Participants MUST be available and present on site for all of the required days.
COST: A fee of $100 per participant to cover catering (lunch, dinner & snacks) for the duration of the program.
This is a non-residential performance project specifically for Mansfield youth.
COVID Safe: This will be a COVID Safe project and participants must comply with Public Health Orders including mandatory vaccination if applicable.
Proposed daily format:
Come in each day by 10 am, work through until 6pm. Lunch, dinner and snacks provided throughout the day. After dinner, a debrief of the day/show and tell. Finishing no later than 8pm.
Performance dates: Friday14th January 1.00pm, Saturday 15th January 1.00p. & 5.00pm.
2 senior leaders: Andrew Davies, Jane Younghusband. Jane has worked co-directing with Andy in 2019.
2 young co-directors: Liam Wilson and Jemma Cuff Jones. Both have been mentored TYU youth directors through our programs and have done further learning in the arts since. There is great potential in this play for ensemble movement and these two people are ideal leaders as they have dance and movement specialties.
General assistants: Joanne Watt, Jayde Jeffries and MMuDS to manage catering, costuming, prop sourcing, publicity, first aid and any other aspects as useful.
